Just in case you were sitting around today thinking to yourself, "I wish there was more I could do or give to the fight against cancer..." I am happy to tell you that you've come to the right place!
June 29th is LIVESTRONG day here in Portland and I will be running in a 5K as a part of Lance Armstrong's army. Is is called the LIVESTRONG challenge and all money raised goes to support the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
The Lance Armstrong Foundation unites people to fight cancer, believing that unity is strength, knowledge is power, and attitude is everything.
Through the dollars and awareness that we raise, we can inspire and empower individuals, and we can make life better for the more than 10 million Americans affected by cancer.
* $10 provides information packets to 16 cancer survivors to offer support, inspiration and hope.
* $50 provides 35 people cancer survivorship information, worksheets to organize their fight against cancer and support, inspiration and hope from other cancer survivors.
* $155 provides a cancer survivor one-on-one direct support through the LIVESTRONG SurvivorCare program.
* $250 provides LIVESTRONG Survivorship Notebooks to 27 cancer survivors.
I love my LIVESTRONG binder and felt so special when I received it in the mail last year. For a cancer patient or survivor, the day you were diagnosed with cancer is the day you started LIVING STRONG. That day for me was March 5th, 2007.
I appreciate so many people have donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for my fund-raising efforts...this is just an addition to make it hard to choose! They are both wonderul, mean so much to me and my family, and hopefully will someday help rid the world of the Big C so no one else has to get it.
Live Strong! Love, Amy
